Virginia Satir(1916 – 1988) Born name: Virginia Pagenkopf. An American author and psychotherapist, known especially for her approach to family therapy and her work with family reconstruction. She is widely regarded as the "Mother of Family Therapy". Her most well-known books are "Conjoint Family Therapy", "Peoplemaking", and "The New Peoplemaking". Also she is co-founder of the Mental Health Research Institute (MHRI), founder of the "Beautiful People", which later became known as the "International Human Learning Resources Network" (IHLRN), and "The Avanta Network", which was renamed to the "Virginia Satir Global Network".
