Thomas Merton


(1915 – 1968) An American Catholic writer, theologian, poet, social activist, mystic, Trappist monk and student of comparative religion, who become one of the most influential Catholic authors of the 20th century. He was ordained to the priesthood and given the name Father Louis.

We do not exist for ourselves.
We stumble and fall constantly even when we are most enlightened. But when we are in true spiritual darkness, we do not even know that we have fallen.
