Karl Marx


(1818 – 1883) Full name: Karl Heinrich Marx. A German political philosopher, economist, sociologist, historian, journalist, revolutionary socialist and co-founder of Marxism (with Friedrich Engels). His work in economics laid the basis for the current understanding of labor and its relation to capital, and has influenced much of subsequent economic thought. He published numerous works during his lifetime, the most notable being "The Communist Manifesto" and "Das Kapital".
